The Music Place & Arts Conservatory is pleased to offer the DFW metroplex a quality Fine Arts program. Offering a wide range of music lessons including Piano, Guitar, Voice, Strings, Percussion and other instruments, as well as Acting and Spanish classes, our goal is to pass on our love of music and the Fine Arts within a positive, uplifting environment. Our expanded facility offers three group piano rooms, two private studios, a strings room, a guitar room, a drum room, and our performance hall where both choir, voice and acting classes are held. In addition, we offer parents and waiting students three lobby areas and free access to wi-fi. Piano students that attend our conservatory play on high-quality Yamaha pianos and learn from the best group piano curriculum available. Our drum set students utilize our Pearl Drums. All students enjoy music games, theory fun sheets, and develop ear-training as they learn their chosen instrument. Our instructors are highly qualified and experienced in their field of expertise. Our theory-focused program gives students the foundation they need to succeed with any musical instrument. We are honored to provide Mansfield and the surrounding area with a fun environment in which students of all ages can learn and develop their musical talents! Fine Arts have never been this much FUN! Meet our highly qualified and inspirational staff - Mrs. Alice Bishop, Owner & President Alice Bishop has taught piano for over 30 years. Through her experience, she has refined her own strategies and techniques leading to the curriculum that is now taught at The Music Place & Arts Conservatory. Her philosophy, “It has to be fun!” is the cornerstone for all of the lessons taught at her studio. Students of The Music Place not only continue in their lessons year after year, but many go on to play other instruments. Some enjoy music careers while others simply enjoy the gift of playing and sharing their musical talents. Running the studio and the store may keep her busy, but Mrs. Bishop always has time for students of The Music Place. Her goal is to provide a fun and inspirational environment where students can grow their gifts and talents. Ms. (Coach) Ross, Acting / Piano / Voice /Music Place Pop Star Singers Asst. Director Ms. Ross is a classically trained pianist. Her love of piano led her to pursue music studies at Hardin-Simmons University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Music Education. In order to hone her teaching skills, Ms. Ross also studied International Education Development at Columbia University. Her love and aptitude for teaching led her to her current position at the studio. In addition to piano, Ms. Ross brings a wealth of experience to The Music Place, including expertise in vocal performance and the dramatic arts. Living in New York for several years, she performed in numerous productions for theatre, film, and television. This passion for the fine arts has molded her into an exceptional teacher. Her optimistic attitude and array of talents inspires her students as well as her fellow teachers. Ms. Michelle, Music Place Pop Star Singers Choir Director / Voice / Piano Ms. Michelle graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.A. in Music. After graduating, she earned her teaching certificate in K-12 Vocal Music Education. She is currently on scholarship at TCU pursuing her graduate degree in Music Theory /Composition. Ms. Michelle loves teaching music to both adults and children. She herself began piano lessons at age four and participated in both group and private lessons for many years. In the fifth grade, Ms. Michelle joined her first choir, which inspired her to eventually choose music as her field of study. While attending Washington University, she was both the Assistant Director for the school's Concert Choir as well as Musical Director of its a cappella group. Meanwhile, she also sang in the elite St. Louis Chamber Chorus. Ms. Michelle is the director of the Music Place Pop Star Singer's Choir, which focuses on vocal training and performance. She is dedicated to sharing her love and knowledge of music with all her students. Ms. Ingrid, Piano / Cello / Violin Ms. Ingrid graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Piano Pedagogy from Pensacola Christian College and teaches our intermediate and advanced students. Ms. Ingrid began piano lessons at age five. Realizing her extraordinary talent, her piano teachers encouraged her to compete in multiple international piano competitions in which she was very successful. Ms. Ingrid's musical abilities do not stop at the piano. In the seventh grade, she decided to expand her musical knowledge and began learning the violin and cello. After only four months of lessons, she was asked to participate in a local orchestra. Ms. Ingrid continues to use her musical talents. In addition to teaching at The Music Place, she performs individually and with other musicians around the metroplex. Ms. Ingrid loves making piano fun! Her early introduction to the piano is a perfect example of how music is absorbed into young minds. Her upbeat, positive nature inspires her students to do their very best so they too can become accomplished pianists. Mr. Jesse – Voice / Piano Mr. Jesse is a Senior Music education major at Dallas Baptist University. A talented vocalist and pianist, Mr. Jesse has taught many students in the areas of gospel, pop/R&B, and classical music. Having taught in Mansfield ISD privately he specializes in working with junior high and high school students preparing them for various competitions and auditions, but also enjoys working with younger students. Mr. Jesse believes that music is a universal language that breaks through physical, mental, and emotional barriers. He is an advocate of music education for all and believes, "Everyone should have the opportunity to an education in the arts, for music is what motivates students to succeed." We are excited to have Mr. Jesse on staff at The Music Place & Arts Conservatory. We find his desire to pass on his love of music truly inspirational! Mr. Jonathan, Piano The newest member of our highly-qualified piano instructors, Mr. Jonathan has been in the music industry for over twenty years with a background in production and song writing. His high energy and love of music encourages students to have fun, practice and excel at their talents and gifts. We are honored to have Mr. Jonathan on staff and look forward to watching him inspire our students. Mr. Dylan, Piano / Percussion / Drum Set / Guitar / Composition Mr. Dylan is a student at TCU majoring in Music Composition. His proficiency in piano, percussion and guitar won him a FULL scholarship to TCU. His extraordinary ability on piano allows him to teach all students beginning through advanced. In addition to piano and guitar, Mr. Dylan plays percussion. He was drum captain his Senior year in high school. He also played in a local stage band. A welcomed addition to The Music Place & Arts Conservatory, Mr. Dylan is truly a gifted musician whose enthusiasm and energy is contagious. Mr. James, Guitar / Drum Set / Percussion / Synthesizer Mr. James began playing piano, drums and guitar at a young age. A strong leader, he began the first of his school's Jazz bands, was a founding member of the San Antonio Youth Jazz Orchestra and a member of both his Region Jazz Band and the Sea World park band. He studied Music and Radio at the University of North Texas and received his diploma in Recording Arts from the MediaTech Institute. Mr. James performed extensively with his band – Gray, the New Black - receiving positive attention in local media. He now performs with Mission Complete recently playing at Mansfield's Unplugged music festival. His extensive performance background makes him the perfect teacher for guitar, drum set and percussion. In addition to his strong leadership skills, Mr. James is a natural teacher and another inspirational teacher at the Music Place. His band experience and knowledge of music continually inspires his students. As a result, his students learn valuable practice ethic and develop a lasting appreciation for music. Mr. James also serves as the executive sound tech for all Music Place performances. Mr. Mason, Piano / Guitar / Bass Guitar / Jazz Bass Guitar / Bassoon Mr. Mason joined our staff in April of this year. He is a UTA Senior Music/Theory/Comp Major. A well rounded musician, he plays multiple instruments and performs with the UTA Marching band. Mr. Mason's students always leave class filled with enthusiasm and excited about practicing. He has the ability to teach theory in a fun way. His love for music and easy going style is a perfect fit for The Music Place & Arts Conservatory. We are pleased to have Mr. Mason on staff at our studio. Ms. Meagan, Violin / Cello / Woodwind / Brass Ms. Meagan graduated with her Bachelor's degree in Music from Southwestern Adventist University, with an emphasis in violin performance. She began playing the violin at age nine, and continued in her studies by learning the trombone, horn, oboe, flute, clarinet and saxophone. Since completing woodwind/brass technique and pedagogy classes, Ms. Meagan is qualified to teach all woodwind and brass instruments as well as her primary instrument the violin. Ms. Meagan has performed in bluegrass bands, clarinet quartets, string quartets, numerous concert bands, church bands, a woodwind quintet and a recorder quartet. She served as the Concert mistress of the Keene Camerata and plays in the Sinfonietta of Fort Worth. Ms. Meagan brings an extensive variety of instruments and techniques to The Music Place. Her enthusiastic personality and wide range of expertise inspires our students to find their musical passion. Mrs. Aguilera, Spanish Mrs. Aguilera received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Education from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. She immersed herself in the Spanish language by living in Mexico City for many years. Jane has experience teaching students of all ages and loves sharing the Spanish language and culture with them. She believes that learning Spanish should be fun, and fills her lessons with games, songs and colorful teaching aids. Ms. Taryn Bishop-Fuentes, Studio Manager, Communications & PR Ms. Taryn received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from The University of Texas at Arlington, with an emphasis on Public Relations. She has taken on many roles at The Music Place, including studio management, human resources, schedules and communications with students and parents. Her kind heart and ability to multi-task are appreciated by students, parents and The Music Place staff.
